We will explore in this lecture oxidation processes of organic matter and methane in sediments of the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. We will show changes in redox condition related to methane flow and microbial and animal populations living around seeps. Finally, we will show how our work can possibly be used to help constraining the future of marine environments in a global warming perspective.
